Acucorp Announces Partnership With Transoft

San Diego, CA - January 4, 2002 - Acucorp, Inc., a world-class provider of application development solutions designed to solve mission-critical business issues, recently announced an agreement to partner with Transoft, an international software company that produces leading-edge transformation and integration products and services. The partnership will combine Acucorp's extend™5 COBOL enhancement solutions with Transoft's Adapter and Legacy Liberator™ technologies, allowing IT organizations to leverage their existing COBOL assets in e-business program development and application migration to open systems environments.

"By partnering with Transoft, we have successfully taken legacy modernization to the next level," explains Gerold Ekström, Acucorp's Vice President, Strategic Directions. "COBOL programmers will now enjoy greater interoperability and portability-having a choice of web server and more than 600 platforms on which to develop and run their applications."

With Acucorp's extend5 family of technologies and Transoft's Intelligent Adapter products, COBOL applications, business rules and data can be integrated with Java, XML or COM to create a powerful, end-to-end distributed e-business solution. This solution incorporates the existing COBOL program with newer technologies, resulting in increased performance and scalability. In addition to enhancing Acucorp's e-business offerings, the partnership with Transoft will provide the necessary resources to migrate COBOL applications from hardware platforms, like the HP e3000, to modern open systems environments under either UNIX or NT. This will help alleviate the fears of many HP e3000 users who may need to migrate to other platforms when Hewlett-Packard discontinues support for the popular server. Having migrated these applications to a new platform, developers can then enhance them by implementing Acucorp' modernization technologies. These include adding a native COBOL GUI, deploying to the Internet, adding RDBMS connectivity, employing thin client architecture, improving programmer productivity via a COBOL-optimized IDE and more.

"Our partnership with Acucorp represents an important alliance for the COBOL world," said Paul Holland, Transoft's CEO. "It is clear that many IT organizations who have an investment in COBOL wish to continue reaping a return on this investment by integrating their COBOL applications with other technologies. Transoft has enjoyed an excellent relationship with Acucorp for many years and this new partnership agreement enables both companies to present a broader solution-set to the market."
