Acucorp Releases Version 5.2.2 of extend™5
San Diego, CA - September 6, 2002 -Acucorp, Inc., an international provider of legacy application extension solutions and Hewlett-Packard transition tools partner, just announced the release of Version 5.2.2 of its extend5 family of technologies. The new release provides enhanced COBOL support for applications both maintained on, and migrated off, the HP e3000 server, a popular platform that HP plans to discontinue in 2006. To help enterprise and government end users, programmers and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) move their mission-critical applications to another server line, Acucorp has built a set of HP e3000 migration-specific features into Version 5.2.2. These features include HP COBOL compatibility, HP COBOL macro support and a source-level COBOL debugger. In addition, the newest version of Acucorp's robust extend5 with ACUCOBOL-GT development system and AcuBench integrated development environment provides:
- A "-Cp" option on the compiler, which allows ACUCOBOL-GT to accept
non-ANSI features of HP e3000 COBOL such as $IF, $COMMENT, $PREPROCESSOR and $INCLUDE
directives and macro calls with parameters.
- Support for HP e3000 COBOL Intrinsic functions defined in the file "hpcobol.h,"
thereby providing direct access to the TurboIMAGE/XL database and VPLUS interface.
- An enhanced file system interface so that HP e3000 programmers can use the ACUCOBOL-GT runtime with KSAM files.
As part of the Version 5.2.2 release, HP e3000 end users and ISVs may also
choose to implement Acucorp's other solutions including Internet deployment, COBOL-based
graphical user interface development, Thin Client architecture and distributed
computing, RDBMS and ODBC data access as well as capabilities specifically designed
to increase programmer productivity. Supported on HP-UX (Itanium and PA-RISC),
Linux (Itanium and x86), Windows (Itanium and x86) or more than 600 other computing
platforms, these software solutions make it possible for Acucorp customers to
modernize their legacy applications without any of the costs, risks or time involved
in re-engineering, re-writing or replacing their core business assets.
