AD Technologies launches new ASP conversion service that supports ACUCOBOL-GT®
Legacy Migration Solutions Developed Through Acucorp/AD Technologies Alliance
San Diego, CA - October 16, 2002 - Acucorp, Inc., a worldwide developer
of legacy migration and application extension solutions, and AD Technologies, a leading COBOL
migration specialist, recently teamed up to provide end users and independent
software vendors (ISVs) with enhanced support for HP e3000 systems migrations.
As part of this enhanced support, AD Technologies has modified its sophisticated
tool set, ReHost/IT. These modifications allow programmers to migrate their
HP COBOL code to Acucorp's robust extend5 with ACUCOBOL-GT
development system while still maintaining their applications on the HP e3000.
Developers can then choose to leave these programs on the server indefinitely
or move them to any of the more than 600 other computing platforms Acucorp supports-
including HP-UX (Itanium and PA-RISC), Linux (Itanium and x86) and Windows (Itanium
and x86).
"At Acucorp, we're always looking for innovative ways to extend the life
of valuable COBOL applications," explains Gerold Ekström, Acucorp's
Vice President, Strategic Directions. "Through our alliance with AD Technologies,
we can now offer programmers another solution for both maintaining, migrating
and modernizing their core HP e3000 technology assets-all while avoiding the costs,
risks, and time typically associated with complex migrations."
Using AD Technologies' automated ReHost/IT migration solution, HP e3000 programmers can easily transfer their application's HP COBOL code and VPLUS screens to the ACUCOBOL-GT development system with Acucorp's special HP e3000 compiler, featured in the recent Version 5.2.2 of extend5 software release. This simple methodology involves no runtime and is also available for other platforms including IBM MVS, HP NonStop and VAX.
Once the applications have been successfully migrated, developers may then take advantage of Acucorp's complete line of portable and interoperable extend5 solutions. These solutions provide capabilities for Internet deployment, COBOL-based graphical user interface (GUI) development, Thin Client architecture and distributed computing, RDBMS and ODBC data access, as well as increased programmer productivity.
"One of the reasons we chose to work with Acucorp on this HP e3000 migration
solution was because of the high-degree of portability offered by their legacy
application development tools," says Yves Philie, CEO of AD Technologies.
"By combining the advanced migration technologies of ReHost/IT with the comprehensive
modernization solutions of extend5, HP e3000 programmers now have
access to one of the most solid migration strategies available on the market today."
