Acucorp and Logical Form Strategic Alliance

Partnership provides organizations with a more powerful solution for legacy application extension, migration and integration

San Diego, CA – June 19, 2003 – Acucorp, Inc., a worldwide developer of legacy application extension solutions, and Logical, an industry-leading information technology integration company, today announced their strategic alliance. The alliance, formed as a result of Acucorp’s Certified Service Provider (CSP) program, will enable Logical to enhance its application integration practice by offering clients a more complete solution for the maintenance, modernization, migration and integration of legacy systems. Using Acucorp’s extend® product line, these clients can now integrate newer technologies and environments—such as XML, .NET, J2EE, service-oriented architectures and mobile computing—with their existing COBOL applications.

“By partnering with Acucorp, we have dramatically improved our integration services offering,” says Jeff Reed, PhD, Chief Technology and Marketing Officer of Logical. “In fact, we can now provide our government, financial, retail and manufacturing customers with a more powerful suite of technology services—services that address an organization’s most valuable legacy assets.”

Included in Logical’s new application integration practice are innovative Acucorp software solutions for:

  • Legacy application extension and modernization
With Acucorp’s extend, organizations that want to Web enable their valuable business applications and databases can now do so without having to re-write, re-engineer or replace their existing systems. Not only does this modernize the application and allow it to be deployed on any Web-based environment—including the public Internet, corporate Intranets and newer Extranets—it also provides the company with new revenue opportunities by preparing its COBOL applications for e-business.

  • Legacy application migration
For Logical clients interested in migrating off of high maintenance, slow-to-adapt mainframe servers, Acucorp and its partners provide a holistic approach to legacy code migration, including screens as well as application and data conversion from most proprietary mainframe COBOL environments such as IBM CICS, Unisys, HP/DEC, Bull, Data General and NCR.

  • Legacy application integration
Using Acucorp’s extend family of solutions, Logical can now offer clients a faster, easier and more elegant way to integrate their existing legacy assets with more “modern” technologies and languages—including application servers, XML and Java. This integration approach recognizes the value of an organization’s embedded systems and adapts that value to the business goals of the company, its partners as well as its customers.

“Logical’s comprehensive service practice combined with Acucorp’s innovative software solutions will provide clients with unparalleled alternatives for the maintenance and modernization of their legacy systems,” explains Cameron Jenkins, Acucorp’s Vice President of Strategic Partnerships. “By doing so, these organizations can maximize their investments while still taking advantage of the latest IT trends—preserving the inherent value of their COBOL applications while achieving the portability and performance the market demands.”
