Acucorp Announces Support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 on HP Integrity Servers
First COBOL vendor to port to Intel Itanium architecture will soon provide solutions for HP Itanium 2-based systems running Windows
San Diego, CA – August 13, 2003 – Acucorp, Inc., an international developer of legacy application extension solutions and the first COBOL provider to port to HP Integrity servers based on the Intel® Itanium® 2 processor 6M, announces upcoming support for Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 for the HP Integrity server family. Using Acucorp's extend product suite, independent software vendors (ISVs) and corporate end users can both maintain and modernize their vital COBOL business systems with the Intel Itanium 2 32- and 64-bit architectures—providing higher performance, scalability and flexibility while minimizing total cost of ownership.
“By porting to the next generation of HP Itanium 2-based platforms, Acucorp delivers proven solutions that significantly increase our customers’ return on investment,” explains Drake Coker, co-founder and chief scientist at Acucorp. “Using extend, these customers can develop and deploy their applications on more than 600 computing platforms without having to recompile or debug the source code on each system. And, when they run their programs, they can do so on any HP Integrity server running HP-UX 11i v2, Linux and soon Windows Server 2003. Best of all, they can, in most cases, increase their system’s performance significantly by running applications on the 64-bit Itanium 2 as compared to the 32-bit version.”
In addition to unparalleled portability and high performance, the extend product suite includes solutions for COBOL-based Web deployment, graphical user interface design, data access, distributed computing and thin client architecture, as well as other productivity-enhancing technologies. extend also provides interoperability with the latest programming languages and technologies including XML, .NET, J2EE, Java, and Visual Basic as well as support for service-oriented architectures (SOAs) and mobile computing.
“HP Integrity servers, with support from Acucorp’s extend product suite, offer enterprise customers choice and a wide range of interoperable Itanium 2-based applications and services,” said Vish Mulchand, director of server marketing, HP Business Critical Servers. “Together with offerings from companies like Acucorp, HP Integrity servers are uniquely enabling customers to realize the full benefits of industry-standard technology and multiple operating system functionality, delivering high performance, choice and flexibility at lower costs.”
