Acucorp Selected for HP e3000 Transition Tool Program
Company is the only COBOL provider included in HP's new program
San Diego, CA – November 3, 2003 – Acucorp, Inc., an international developer of legacy application extension solutions, was recently selected as the COBOL vendor of choice for the new HP e3000 Transition Tool Program. The HP program, which was launched on November 1, offers existing HP e3000 server customers a free copy of Acucorp's robust COBOL development system, ACUCOBOL-GT®, plus one full year of Acucorp technical support with the purchase of a qualifying HP server: the HP 9000, HP Integrity (except rp24xx servers), and HP ProLiant DL360, DL580, DL760 or ML570. Customers migrating their HP COBOL II applications from the soon-to-be discontinued HP e3000 server line to one of the qualifying HP platforms may also select an alternate third-party transition tool as part of the program.
A featured element in Acucorp's extend® family of solutions, ACUCOBOL-GT provides increased support for HP COBOL migrations. Included in the company's development system are enhancements such as the "-Cp" compiler option, which allows ACUCOBOL-GT to accept the non-ANSI features provided by HP COBOL II—including syntax and macros as well as utilities to convert copy books from KSAM format. This, coupled with Acucorp's market-leading ease-of-use characteristics, provides a smoother transition to the new platform for both code and developer.
"As a long-time supporter of HP's hardware platforms, Acucorp is pleased to have been selected for this unique program," says Joe Seiley, Acucorp's Director, Strategic Partnerships. "With extend, HP e3000 developers can maintain their current systems at a lower total cost of ownership and higher return on investment than other transition alternatives."
Using these technologies, plus the solutions and services offered by Acucorp's strategic partners, makes it possible for developers to migrate their HP e3000 applications to the HP 9000, Integrity or ProLiant servers. Once in the target environment, these COBOL systems can incorporate Acucorp's other software innovations: a Windows-like graphical user interface; Web or mobile deployment; interoperability with .NET, Java and XML; access to non-COBOL data sources; and application processing via a thin client architecture.
"With the HP e3000 Transition Tool program, we have assembled a powerful set of technologies—all designed to help developers move their HP e3000 systems to Windows, Linux or HP-UX successfully," explains Alvina Nishimoto, HP e3000 Transition Program Manager. "Using Acucorp's solutions, these developers can migrate their mission-critical COBOL applications to the HP platform of choice, and they can also preserve and modernize the vital business logic inherent to them."
