IBM and Acucorp Form Alliance to Extend
IBM VisualAge Pacbase®
with ACUCOBOL-GT®
San Diego, CA – May 26, 2004 – Acucorp, Inc., a leading provider of COBOL application modernization and extension solutions, today announces its partnership with the IBM WebSphere software division, in charge of the IBM VisualAge Pacbase offering. IBM VisualAge Pacbase is a model-driven, repository-based application development environment designed for enterprise-wide scalability, reliability and performance. This partnership between Acucorp and IBM will greatly enhance the development, portability and flexibility of COBOL applications using IBM VisualAge Pacbase on UNIX and Windows platforms.
Because IBM VisualAge Pacbase will now be built using Acucorp’s extend ® with ACUCOBOL-GT technologies, which include the COBOL Virtual Machine™, IBM VisualAge Pacbase users can develop COBOL applications in the UNIX or Windows environment of their choice and then deploy those applications on any of more than 600 platforms supported by Acucorp.
“Utilizing Acucorp’s technologies, we provide our customers with cost-effective migration and modernization solutions to extend the longevity of their legacy COBOL applications,” states Philippe Bauquel, IBM Paris Laboratory Development Director. “Our partnership with Acucorp allows our customers to compile their COBOL applications developed with IBM VisualAge Pacbase once and then run them anywhere.”
Acucorp’s extend solutions offer additional integrated technologies featuring innovative COBOL modernization solutions including:
- Interoperability with XML, .NET, and J2EE as well as other programming languages and application servers
- Web services in a Service-Oriented Architecture
- Internet deployment and mobile computing
- Graphical user interface (GUI) development
- Relational database access
- Thin client architecture
“The IBM Laboratory in Paris has always had a mission to support its clients through technological innovations that will increase the return on investment. This philosophy fits perfectly with Acucorp’s core value proposition to customers, and that is the reason why this partnership was formed,” states Stéphane Croce, Acucorp’s Vice President of Strategic Direction. “The dynamics created by this strategic alliance will offer IBM VisualAge Pacbase users the capability to create applications suited for today’s open, integrated systems environments while reigning in costs.”
