New ACUCOBOL-GT Features

With AcuBench Version 6.0, powerful enhancements to the ACUCOBOL-GT development system are available to you.

Included in this set of features is a file system interface for XML files, AcuXML, that seamlessly converts XML data to COBOL and vice versa, so that you can trade data with third parties that are not invested in COBOL. AcuBench also supports a new ACUCOBOL-GT utility, xml2fd, that helps you to guide the import of an XML file to an FD file. You can access this utility from the Tools menu. For more information about AcuXML and xml2fd, refer to section 3.5, "XML-to-FD Conversion Utility - xml2fd," and section 6.11, "Working with XML Data," in the ACUCOBOL-GT User's Guide.

This version of AcuBench introduces a Report Composer feature, which allows you to design sections of a report in a graphical designer and then generate each report section into an ".rpt" file. (You must add the COBOL code that handles data acquisition.) Information about how to create reports using this new function can be found in Chapters 16 - 18 in the AcuBench User's Guide.

With a new Windows utility called acu4glfd, you can create file descriptions and SELECTs. The utility uses ODBC technology to obtain table information in order to list table fields. Note that you must have Acucorp's Acu4GL product installed for the runtime to access the table. For additional information about this utility, see section 6.2 of the Acu4GL User's Guide.
