Release Overview
Version 6.0
Remote COBOL Listener Enhancements
Graphical manager
AcuConnect has a new graphical management utility that lets you control acurcl command functions. Available for Windows servers, this control panel presents several tabs that correspond to the various actions available from the command line. If you execute the acurcl command with no options, a graphical screen appears. Note that some of these tabs appear only if you are logged on as Administrator. A description of the graphical control panel appears in Appendix A in the AcuConnect User's Guide.
Longer passwords
AcuConnect now supports passwords up to 64 characters in length. In previous versions, passwords were limited to a maximum of eight characters. Note that this enhancement requires a change in the AcuAccess file for Version 6.0. For more information, please refer to section 3.3.2, "The Server Access File," in the AcuConnect User's Guide.
Group management on UNIX
Many versions of UNIX support supplemental groups, meaning that users can be assigned to multiple groups instead of a single group for permissions. acurcl now uses the initgroups() function to set the group identity to multiple groups before it starts the child runtime, so that the runtime has the same group permissions as if the user had actually logged on to the UNIX server.
