Any news about an X Windows version of the Thin Client?

Our biggest customer has started asking about GUI, but they are not a Micro$oft house. They run "SunRay" X terminals connected to multiple Sun SPARC servers running Solaris.

We just need to know if this is even being considered.

Right now we need to make a decision between abandoning AcuCorp GUI for a Java front-end, or hold out for a Thin Client that runs in X.

(And no, WINE is not an option. We need a serious solution)

A X-Windows Thin Client, or even a X-Windows compatible runtime, would be of great interest to us also. We have heard rumours ;) - but like you Duncan - confirmation is what we all want to hear.

We have customers who see Linux on the desktop as an attractive economic proposition, but we can't provide them with anything other than a character based interface if they choose this type of client for their business.

Unfotunately I wasn't able to listen in on the 7.2 Webinars - did anybody hear anything discussed about X-Windows clients at either the US or European webinars for 7.2?

Unfortunately, the problem is we are early adopters here in the Antipodes.

According to the local head of marketing for Red Hat there are "more [RedHat] certified engineers in the Australia-New Zealand region than anywhere else in the world.” (Hat tip: Computerworld)

Until the rest of the world 'gets it', I don't hold out much hope.

Better brush up on your Java skills! :D
