When Linus Torvalds first introduced
his free, machine-independent implementation of
UNIX® to the technology industry, Acucorp took
notice. For us, creating a Linux port was a logical
step—since our ACUCOBOL-GT® development system
had already been ported to many UNIX variants,
including the SunOS, AIX®, IRIX®, Ultrix, HP-UX
and XENIX® operating systems. When Acucorp officially
announced support of Linux in February 1995, it
was the world’s first COBOL compiler available
on Linux.
Since then, Acucorp has continued to meet industry
demands for Linux-compatible COBOL development
tools, most recently announcing support for the
operating system across the entire line of IBM®
enterprise eServers: the i-, p-, x- and zSeries
machines. As HP embraced Linux for its Intel®
IA32 and Itanium platforms, Acucorp responded
by becoming the first COBOL system available on
Linux Itanium. And, our support for Linux does
not end there. In fact, Acucorp’s extend®
technologies run on virtually every enterprise-ready
distribution of Linux available today, including
SuSE® Linux Enterprise, Red Hat® Enterprise Linux,
Turbolinux® Enterprise, UnitedLinux and many others—encompassing
a wide, industry-leading range of hardware platforms. |
